Alexandra Thornton
Alexandra Thornton is a leadership consultant, author and organisational transformation specialist with over 17 years of consultancy experience working across complex, high-pressure environments.
Her work spans leadership, culture and organisational performance, supporting individuals, teams and senior leaders to navigate complexity, align around clear strategic direction and lead with confidence and impact.
As Head of Consultancy at Human Alchemy, an award-winning leadership consultancy, Alexandra led the strategic direction, performance and culture of the business, successfully transforming it into a consistently profitable business with 31–33% margins and outstanding feedback.
Over the last four years, Alexandra has worked directly with a wide range of organisations including the NHS, the RAF Tedder Academy of Leadership, the Co-op, Lincoln College Group, Wakefield Grammar School Foundation, Crowders Nurseries, Gusto Homes, Barcode Warehouse and numerous SMEs.
Alexandra’s approach blends leadership development, coaching, behavioural insight and commercial strategy. She is known for helping leaders move beyond surface-level change to create meaningful, transformational shifts in mindset, capability and performance.
She is also the author of Intuitive Thinking: 7 Steps to Transform Your Life, where she explores how individuals can unlock clarity, confidence and personal leadership through deeper self-awareness and thinking differently.

Facilitation and Coaching hours
Alexandra has over 5 years’ experience coaching and developing leaders and over 17 years’ consulting experience both within organisational roles and through her independent coaching practices.
In the last year alone, she has delivered over 350 hours of facilitated leadership workshops and spoken at five conferences, alongside ongoing one-to-one coaching.
Across the wider Human Alchemy portfolio, she and the team have contributed to the development of over 1,000 leaders over the past four years, supporting measurable improvements in leadership capability and organisational performance.
She currently delivers coaching through one-to-one leadership coaching, group programmes and organisational development interventions alongside her consultancy work.
Alexandra is also a voluntary coach with Smart Works Leeds, supporting women to build confidence and succeed in returning to or entering the workplace.
Supervision
Alexandra is completing her ILM Level 7 Diploma in Executive and Senior Level Coaching and Mentoring and engages in ongoing reflective practice to support her continued development as a coach and consultant.
Relevant experience
Alongside her role as Head of Consultancy at Human Alchemy, Alexandra has worked across a wide range of sectors including professional services, public sector and SMEs, supporting senior leaders and teams to improve performance, capability and alignment.
Her work includes leadership development programmes, organisational transformation, strategic consultancy and coaching, often operating across multiple stakeholders, disciplines and competing priorities.
Prior to this, Alexandra held senior leadership roles within RPS Consultancy, where she led complex projects, built senior client relationships and contributed significantly to business growth.
She also brings earlier experience from earlier consultancy and local authority environments, giving her a strong understanding of governance, risk, stakeholder management and the practical realities of delivering in complex systems.
